Fellow Extravaganzers:
Well, it only took 1,141.4 miles (what is a few miles among friends, right?!?), but over this past weekend your E-17 Mascot Ma’am The Black Lab and yours truly accomplished our two day drive to arrive here at Extravaganza Headquarters to really the surprise of all surprises: Unlike in prior years when weeks and month were interludes between my list visit here and the upcoming Extravaganza when, inevitably, there were a gaggle of “to do” items to ready this property for your arrival(s), this year, thanks to the diligence and thoroughness of our caretakers Peanut and Larry, this place fully is tuned up and unconditionally ready for you! New paint on all the woodwork, new flowers bedecking all of our flower beds and a recently reseeded lawn that looks like the Masters is coming to town!! Bueno, bueno, bueno with huge thanks to that dynamic duo who, with the assistance of Larry’s bother “Albuquerque Ed”, will be laying the spread out for this year’s event, just as they did for E-16!!!!
Larry and I walked the 3 acre yard yesterday morning (see pics above) and, today, Peanut and I did the inside inspection and I can tell you that, with fourteen years of Extravaganzas now under belt, this year’s event will be lacking of nothing (other than, at least for Group One, local waters that we can safely fish)! Decades ago while in the US Army, during boot camp, we used the phrase “spit shined” to describe something in its immaculate condition, and, to turn that phrase, Headquarters is 100% “spit shined”…just add you and we are ready to rock ‘n’ roll.
Look for a continuum of emails from me as your on the scene reporter as this final week before the onset of the Wonderful Ones occurs, the precursor to which is that, having observed first-hand the turbidity and 2X water flow of the Clark Fork, we are definitely making the right decision to motor coach Group One to the Missouri River—the local rivers are not in a fishable condition and, with the continued drip off of this year’s runoff, it is now a full 50-50 coin toss as to whether or not the Tattoos will be hitting the road to The Mo or not, a final decision with respect to which will be made next Thrusday, June 15th after Dem Ones have slayed The Mo’s mega rainbows and browns.
Best to all from the scene of it all,
Rock Creek Ron
